Advanced Shipping Module

The e-Merchandizer has two built in shipping company interfaces and can be modified to fit any shipping company that provides live data to websites.

UPS

Every product in the system has the option to add the weight and dimensions of the product. We have added a checkbox for "combinable" that will combine the weights and calculate a rough size for packages up to a maximum weight limit (150 lbs. by default at UPS but can be set lower). This calculation is then packaged up in an XML file and sent to UPS for rate and service level availability. We then take that estimate and add your standard markup (a percentage) and display the options to the customer.

Once an order has been recieved you have the option to interface your World Ship software with our system to facilitate entering the order number and having that populate all ship to address information. When you use this method, our system then calls UPS computers to track packages on your website.

Our system also emails the customer when you change the status of an order to "shipped" with a standard note and information about tracking their package. In the event alternative shipping methods are used, there is a space in the manager to allow you to write custom notes that are then emailed out.

The key to the system is automation. The computers talk to each other and transfer the inforation that the customer needs to make the decision on overnight or 3 day ground. The system sends the email when you tell it you have shipped the package. The system lets the customer track their package on your website.

USPS

The USPS now has an online module that we've integrated into the e-Merchandizer which provides the same real time lookup of rates and service levels but at this time they do not have the tracking capabilities of UPS.

Both UPS and USPS modules can be offered at your choosing for domestic and international. UPS can be offered as ground only or a choice of ground, second day, third day overnight etc. and UPSP can be offered as only parcel post or with expedited options.

The system also offers free shipping options on all products and if selected will give the customer free shipping on the ground or parcel post option, depending on the choices you have selected.
